Rams Moved Archuleta to Bolster Run "D"

A league source tells us that the Rams recently decided to move Adam Archuleta from free safety back to strong safety because of his importance to the team's run defense.

The Rams, we're told, thought Archuleta would work out well at the "free" position because of his speed and ability to cover ground.  But the team ultimately was reluctant to go with a rookie, Jerome Carter, at the "strong" spot due to the intellectual demands of coordinator Larry Marmie's defense.

The catalyst for the move was the 6.3 yards per rush average generated by the Chargers in the Rams' most recent preseason game.
